I am a painter engaged with rescuing and restoring. Paintings grow slowly, layered over long stretches of time allow me to investigate and intuit what the next layer is asking for. Seeking the marks from accumulation, deterioration, and rupture, I react to materials and investigate broken places with incursions of chalk pastel, oil, ink, Flashe paint.
Attempts to obscure or conceal, intuitive gestures that come from a desire to rescue and restore, instead highlight and dignify flaws.
Threads are allowed to move as the atmosphere takes them, resin slumps and subtly adapts to place allowing my paintings a sculptural dimension.
