I paint the worn and fraying parts of our lives, making visible, the marks almost imperceptible interactions leave on our souls.
Trailing experience, we make our way in the world accumulating reminders of all we encounter. The process of living bruises us in ways we aren’t always aware of.
Paintings grow slowly, layered over long stretches of time. Seeking the marks from accumulation, deterioration, and rupture, I react to materials and investigate broken places with incursions of chalk pastel, oil, ink, Flashe paint.
Attempts to obscure or conceal, intuitive gestures that come from a desire to rescue and restore, instead highlight and dignify flaws. Paint drips, threads move as the atmosphere takes them, resin slumps and subtly adapts to place.
